Why Become an AEKI Member?

Becoming a member of AEKI means being part of a national movement to build a stronger, more competitive, and more sustainable Indonesian coffee industry.

AEKI is an official forum that houses coffee business actors from various sectors — from farmers, exporters, roasters, baristas, researchers, to policy makers.

AEKI plays an active role in fighting for the interests of coffee players at various levels, both domestically and in the global market.

Membership Expansion & Status

In order to create a conducive business climate, in 2008, the idea of ​​expanding AEKI membership was developed, namely by opening opportunities for non-exporting coffee processing industries to become AEKI members. Therefore, the BPP AEKI held an Extraordinary General Meeting on July 21, 2008, to amend the Articles of Association and Bylaws to allow non-exporting coffee industries to become members.

Based on the Articles of Association, there are the following fundamental changes:

  • In addition to coffee exporting companies, non-exporting coffee processing industry companies can also become members of AEKI.
  • In connection with the expansion of membership, the name of this association was changed to the Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industry Association, with the abbreviation AEKI remaining as before.

AEKI members consist of:

  1. Ordinary Members are Coffee Exporting Companies and Coffee Processing Industries that have the status of Registered Coffee Exporters (ETK) and/or Temporary Coffee Exporters (EKS) as well as Coffee Processing Industries and Coffee Companies with legal status that do not or have not yet engaged in export activities.
  2. Extraordinary Members are Indonesian citizens or foreign citizens who have interests and/or are active in the coffee sector.

Honorary members are institutions or individuals who have made extensive contributions and have extensive experience in the coffee sector.

Registration procedure

Procedures for becoming an AEKI member (according to AEKI Decree No.SK/1306/AEKI/XII/2011)

  1. Prospective AEKI Members are Legal Entities in the form of:
    • Coffee Exporting Company that has EKS and ETK
    • Coffee processing industry that has EKS and ETK status.
    • Coffee Processing Industry Companies that have not or do not carry out export activities and do not yet have EKS and ETK.
    • Other Indonesian coffee companies that have not or are not engaged in export activities.
  2. Prospective AEKI members are asked to fill out an application form to become an AEKI member which has been provided by the local AEKI BPDs, accompanied by photocopies of the following files:
    • Company deed of establishment and latest amendments,
    • SIUP and other agreements.
    • Company Taxpayer Identification Number
    • Company domicile certificate.
  3. The prospective AEKI member in question has paid an initial fee of Rp. 1.000.000 (One million Rupiah) directly to the BPP-AEKI account.
  4. A photocopy of proof of initial deposit is submitted to the local BPD AEKI by showing the original proof of deposit from the bank.
  5. The local AEKI BPD submits the application for prospective members accompanied by copies of the documents as in the second and fourth dictums to the AEKI BPP to obtain approval.
  6. If the prospective member's application is accepted by BPP-AEKI, BPP AEKI will issue an AEKI Membership certificate.
